The E-commerce Launch Checklist: Everything to Fix Before Going Live

Payments, shipping, tax, product data, SEO and post-launch tracking — the checks that stop an online store from leaking orders on day one.

Most stores do not fail because of design. They fail because checkout breaks on a mid-range Android phone, or because shipping charges surprise the buyer on the last step.

Product data

  • Unique titles and descriptions — never paste the supplier's copy.
  • At least four images per product, compressed and correctly sized.
  • Variants, stock levels and HSN or tax classes verified.
  • Product schema with price, availability and reviews.

Payments and shipping

  • Test UPI, cards, netbanking, wallets and COD end to end with real money.
  • Confirm refunds and partial refunds actually work before launch.
  • Set shipping zones and show charges early, not at the final step.
  • Automate order confirmation, dispatch and delivery messages.

SEO and trust

Category pages need real copy and clean URLs. Add returns, shipping, privacy and contact pages with a working phone number — a store without them reads as risky and converts worse.

Track from day one

Install analytics with e-commerce events, connect Search Console and Merchant Center, and watch abandoned-cart behaviour in week one. The first fortnight of data usually pays for the next round of changes.
